Reading Auras
The Energy Field That Speaks Before Words
An aura is the subtle field of energy that surrounds every living being. It is a reflection of our emotions, thoughts, health, spiritual state, and overall vibration. Some people sense auras intuitively, while others see them as colors, light, or waves around the body.
Throughout history, auras have been recognized in spiritual traditions, healing practices, and ancient art. Today, aura interpretation has evolved into a powerful tool for self-awareness and energetic healing.
My Personal Story
One of my favorite memories from raising my children is when one of them, around age seven, began seeing auras naturally. Instead of brushing it off or telling them it was “just their imagination,” I supported that gift. I bought a child-friendly book about auras, and together we explored what these colors meant. It became a sweet bonding experience — a doorway into energy awareness and intuition that we shared together. As they grew older, my child eventually talked themselves out of the ability, deciding it must have been an eye issue (it wasn’t). But that time in our lives remains a cherished memory — a reminder that children often see the world with spiritual clarity before it’s questioned away.
Aura Colors & What They Mean
Below is a simplified, accessible guide to common aura colors. While interpretations can vary, these are widely understood meanings:
❤️ Red Aura — Vitality, grounding, physical energy. Passion, courage, strength, survival energy. Also linked to big emotions or intense life phases.
🧡 Orange Aura — Creativity, emotional expression, intuition. Joy, sensuality, change, inspired ideas, and a free-flowing connection to life.
💛 Yellow Aura — Confidence, intellect, optimism. Mental clarity, leadership, sunny personality, analytical thinking.
💚 Green Aura — Healing, balance, compassion. Heart-centered energy, growth, empathy, emotional harmony.
💙 Blue Aura — Communication, peace, truth. Spiritual openness, clarity, intuitive sensitivity, calm expressive energy.
💜 Purple / Violet Aura — Spirituality, intuition, psychic awareness. Connection to higher consciousness, mystical insight, deep inner wisdom.
🤍 White Aura — Purity, protection, connection to source. Cleansing, spiritual expansion, divine support, high vibration.
🖤 Black / Gray Aura — Blockages, fatigue, protection mode. Not “bad” — often indicates emotional buildup, grief, boundaries, or deep processing.
How to See or Sense Auras
Seeing auras visually is not necessary to read them. You can sense them through intuition, feeling, or energetic perception. Here are a few ways to learn:
1. Soften Your Vision. Look at someone against a light background. Relax your focus as if you’re looking through them. A glow or tint may appear near the edges.
2. Use Peripheral Vision. Many see colors more easily from the corner of the eye, where the mind is less analytical.
3. Practice with Plants or Crystals. Their fields are stable and easier to sense.
4. Pay Attention to Vibration. Auras can also be felt: warm, cool, buzzy, comforting, heavy, bright, or soft.
5. Aura Photography / Kirlian Imaging . Some holistic centers or metaphysical shops offer aura photos. These use biofeedback sensors to translate energetic data into a visible color field.
How to Get an Aura Reading
You can explore your aura through:
Aura photography sessions
Energy healers or intuitive readers
Reiki practitioners
Meditation and self-scanning
Biofeedback aura technology
Mirror practice and gentle gaze exercises
A good aura reading should feel insightful, supportive, and empowering — never fear-based.
I’ve had my aura photographed twice, exactly one year apart. Both readings happened during a profoundly difficult period — after the loss of a child and then during the year of healing that followed.
Despite the time and emotional evolution between sessions, my photos showed consistent colors in the red/orange spectrum — a blend of deep emotion, resilience, life-force energy, and the kind of courage required to keep moving through grief.
Those images were a reminder that our aura tells our story, even when our words cannot. It reflects not just who we are in the moment — but what we are moving through, healing, integrating, and becoming.
